Unofficial Free VATSIM Resources

Are you a VATSIM vACC (Virtual Area Control Center) looking for a free sub-domain to host your organization website? To make things perfect, we can provide you with a free and sleek URL like one of these below (P.S. If you have an existing domain, we can still point a subdomain to your server for free, and you can redirect it to your existing site as well!):

You can simply follow the steps below to prove that you are the director/deputy director/web services manager of your vACC to claim a VATSIM.EU.ORG subdomain for your vACC website for free:

Verification

1. Determine your VATSIM.EU.ORG subdomain: use the ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 code of your vACC or with the name of web service (either jp.vatsim.eu.org or helpdesk.jp.vatsim.eu.org would be possible).
2. Send us your desired domain and a valid proof of your position in your vACC, for example send us an email with an URL to your vACC staff list from your vACC domain with your name in the address, and we will reply to tell you your eligibility shortly (In the future if this project goes well, we will be applying for and implementing OAuth SSO from VATSIM to speed up the process)

Setup (Custom Server)

1. Send us another email to inform us that the server ip of the web server you are using, with the eligible subdomain you previously set up in step 2, from the email address you applied with. After receiving a success email response, your new URL should go live within a few hours.

Setup (GitHub Pages)

1. Create/log in to your GitHub account and set up your GitHub Page by following the instructions here. To get a head start you can simply use the generator with one of the provided themes and add some relevant content to your new page.
2. Add a file named CNAME to your repo (in the gh-pages branch for project pages) with a single line matching the domain you are eligible to apply for (e.g. jp.vatsim.eu.org). If you prefer committing via a web interface, have a look at GitHub Pages Help.
3. Send us another email to inform us that you are using GitHub Pages, with the eligible subdomain you previously set up in step 2, from the email address you applied with. After receiving a success email response, your new URL should go live within a few hours.

This project has no relation with the European Union despite the domain name, and is in no way affiliated with VATSIM. This is entirely voluntary and use at your own risk.
